[ANN] Active4D v6.3r1 released

Aparajita Fishman
Hi,

Active4D v6.3r1, the ultimate web development environment for 4D, has just been released.

This version implements full 64-bit support on OS X, as well as support for 4D v15r2 on Windows. In addition, you now have the ability to abandon individual sessions from the session monitor.

Active4D v6.2 implemented custom session handler support, allowing persistent session storage in the database or on disk. A predefined session handler that provides database storage is included.

Active4D v6.3 is a free upgrade for v6.2 licensees, but you will need to request a new key file. Upgrades from previous versions can be purchased online.

For more info:

https://www.aparajitaworld.com/active4d/ <https://www.aparajitaworld.com/active4d/>

 Many thanks,

  - Aparajita

Upgrading to v6.3

Aparajita Fishman
Hi,

To clarify the upgrade to v6.3, it is free for those who purchased an Active4D v6 upgrade (or original license) since v6.2 was released, which was 5 months ago.

Since v6.2 was a free upgrade from previous v6 licenses, those who *renewed* their licenses since the v6.2 release may have received a key file that says the version is v6.2. But those folks will have to pay for the v6.3 upgrade. This is the first paid upgrade since v6 was released over 3 years ago. Note that upgrades extend your existing license by another year.

Sorry for the confusion.

Many thanks,

  - Aparajita

Communication between 2 Active4D db's

Mike Vogt-2
Hi All,
Is there any way, while executing Active4D code in server A, to access data in an Active4D server B, and to either set session data with the returned data in server A, or include it in the output buffer?

Let me know if I'm not making myself clear.

TIA,
Mike Vogt

That is possible, if you also program Server B :-)

Our iPhones call me, and I return the requested data with the json Library

Example: heilbronn.idcontor.de/nextClearances.json?strasse=abstatt

Are you redirecting to server B and then redirecting back to server A?

Re: Communication between 2 Active4D db's

Mike Vogt-2
Ok, that's seems like what I want to do.  I don't know what command to execute in Active4D (on server A) that will get data from server B without redirecting, then redirecting back, pretty hokey ;-).  Both sites are fusebox sites if that changes things

Thanks,
Mike

Re: Communication between 2 Active4D db's

Aparajita Fishman
I already said exactly what to do. Create a 4D method in site A that uses the ‘HTTP Get’ command to make a request to site B, then returns the result of that request in $0. Then call that 4D method from Active4D. There are no redirects involved here.

Re: Communication between 2 Active4D db's

I was just going to ask if you meant HTTP get.

I already said exactly what to do. Create a 4D method in site A that uses the ‘HTTP Get’ command to make a request to site B, then returns the result of that request in $0. Then call that 4D method from Active4D. There are no redirects involved here.
