RSS and XML

Matthew Manche
I am searching for a way to capture news headlines to use in a website and I
keep running across RSS. Not being too familiar with XML, I'm guessing that
I need to write an A4D routine to capture these XML files. Before I dive too
far into this, I was wondering if anyone has implemented this using
active4d. If so, how easy or difficult and where to find some type of
reference material.

Cheers,

Matthew

I haven't done this with Active4D, but I have written an XML-RPC component,
and one of the examples is a browser for the O'Reilly Meerkat service.  If
this service has the type of news you require, then perhaps you can just use
the example code to gather your news.

Otherwise, parsing the RSS file's isn't that hard, but you need an XML
Parser.  You could either use something like Expat4D
<http://www.mitchenall.com/expat4d> or Rob Laveux's new XML Plug which also
lets you write XML files <http://www.pluggers.nl/>.

HTH,

Mark
